Hallmark Ornaments Holiday Open House

Next weekend, November 8-10, is Hallmark Ornaments Holiday Open House. In addition to two more Hallmark ornaments coming out that weekend, the stores will have special sales on boxed cards and wrapping paper.

The new ornaments are the Merry Carolers Trio which is a replica of the Caroling Snowmen plush item, and the North Pole Countdown Tabletop. Hallmark announced it is also doing a re-release of this first in the Caroling Snowmen set which plays “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

In addition to the Disney wireless band which has three pieces available so far, Hallmark also has four Disney characters in plush called “Nutcracker Sweets”. Each has a candy d├ęcor in their outfit and plays songs from “The Nutcracker”. They are on sale during the Holiday Open House for $14.95 (regularly $19.95).

This is one of the fun events available for Hallmark Ornament collectors. There isn’t the rush of trying to find your limited collections pieces. You can more leisurely check out the new items and most stores at least in our area really make an event of it and provide cookies or other snacks.

One of the chains around our town asks customers to bring in canned goods which are donated to a local charitable food drive so your shopping event can be helpful to others as well as fun.

As October draws to a close, enjoy these upcoming festive months spending time with family and friends.

Happy Hallmarking.

Football Legends Hallmark Ornaments

Football Legends Hallmark Series Page

Are you ready for some football? It’s the first weekend for pro football and I hope your favorite team did well.

The Hallmark ornaments series Football Legends started in 1995 and has produced many favorites to hang on your tree. The Hallmark ornament series started with NFL great, Joe Montana from the San Francisco Forty-Niners and then decided to produce a limited piece of Joe Montana in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform since he had recently traded teams. Word was the Hallmark thought only people in Kansas City would be interested in such a piece so very few were made. In reality, many Joe Montana fans wanted the ornament in both varieties and the search was on.

This Hallmark ornament series in heavily slanted toward the quarterback position with 14 of the 19 being NFL quarterbacks. An early variation was Emmitt Smith from the Dallas Cowboys which has been a popular piece on the secondary market. He also went on to win a stint on “Dancing with the Stars”. Last year’s Hallmark ornament in the series was Michael Oher which people also know from the hit movie about his life called “The Blind Side” .

Several of the ornaments have been done in more than one uniform similar to the original Joe Montana. Peyton Manning was done in both the home and away jersey for the Indianapolis Colts and now plays for the Denver Broncos. Ben Roethlisberger was produced as a special edition Hallmark Ornament in 2009 where Hallmark simply added a Super Bowl patch to the uniform of the original 2007 ornament. The great Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu possibly known as much for his hair as football was also done in home and away jerseys as well.

The Hallmark ornaments in this series have had many extras as well as the series pieces. Steve Young of the 49ers was the first extra which appeared in 2001, along with Brett Favre who finally retired after changing his mind for several years.

This year in 2013, Hallmark ornaments has devoted 7 ornaments in the line to the NFL. Along with the series piece, Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, they have Joe Theisman, James Harrison, and 2 each of Marcus Allen and Shannon Sharpe. Enjoy the season. Sky's the Limit Hallmark Ornaments

Sky's the Limit Hallmark Ornaments Series Page

In 1997, Hallmark Ornaments started a very popular airplane series with collectors called Sky’s the Limit. The first airplane in the series was the legendary Kitty Hawk flown by Orville and Wilbur Wright, followed in 1998 by the 1917 Curtiss Jenny.

Another famous plane in the Hallmark Ornament series is the Spirit of St Louis (#4) which was the single engine plane flown solo by Charles Lindbergh in 1927 from New York to Paris. The next plane in the series is the Gee Bee R-1 Sportster and is the most sought after of the series.

In 2001, Hallmark created a miniature set of the Sky’s the Limit which only ran for 5 years and duplicated the first five of the full size set. The miniature size ornaments are approximately 1 ½ inches across. They also had an airplane hangar in 2001 called “Flying School” which makes a nice set with the miniature planes. The hangar is made of tin.

The series has included three Cessna aircraft as well as the yellow Staggerwing (#6) . Many of the planes have been red, but in keeping with Christmas colors, the 2005 (#9) airplane was the 1931 Laird Super Solution and is the only one done so far in green.

The plane this year is #13 in the Hallmark Ornament series and again features a Gee Bee plane – the Super Sportster Model Z and is Yellow and Black in color. We will have to wait and see if it is as popular with collectors as the previous one. In addition to the Sky's the Limit series Hallmark created a line of larger planes called Legends in Flight, which are larger and more display pieces. Happy Flying. Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club Event

Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club Event Pieces

There were many things to see and do at the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club Event in Kansas City last weekend. There were 12 Hallmark ornaments that you could buy if you attended the Event, as well as a collector’s pin. Hallmark also provided each attendee with two additional ornaments in their registration bag. These two were A Snowman’s Joyful Job and Forty Years of Memories.

There were the usual sessions for having Hallmark ornaments signed by your favorite artists as well as games and seminars. There are always long lines for the popular games such as bingo where you can win past years ornaments. One of the ladies sitting next to us won twice – she was really enjoying herself.

One of the more informative sessions of the weekend was a Sneak Peak at ornaments from the 2014 Hallmark Ornament line. We do not have pictures available, but we can describe some of them for you. The Beauty of Birds ornament will be #10 and it is a hummingbird. Snowtop Lodge is also #10 and will be a baker with a fabric Chef’s hat and apron. The other ornament which will hit #10 in 2014 is Fairy Messengers and it will be a daffodil.

A few other series were also highlighted, Noelville #9 will be a fire station and Cookie Cutter Christmas #3 will be a mouse caroler ringing a bell at a door inside a bell shaped cookie. And, one last one was Once Upon a Christmas #4 which will be Santa feeding Dasher at his stall door telling him to eat well for the big night ahead.

The Christmas Commemorative Hallmark ornament listed in the Dream Book was also shown at this session and is a red glass ball inscribed with the year 2013. This will be released in December. We will pass along more information as it becomes available. Shop The Ornament Shop for all you Hallmark Christmas Ornaments.

Disney Hallmark Ornaments

Disney Hallmark Ornaments Series Page

The Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments Club Event will be held in Kansas City this weekend. People attend this for many reasons. Some like to get an item from their collection signed by a Hallmark artist. Others go to collect the special ornaments available only at the event, while still others go to meet other collectors or renew acquaintances with old friends. The event this year is titled “Hangin’ With Your Buddies”.

A prominent part of the Hallmark Ornament Collection for many years now have been items related to Disney movies and characters. The first Disney figural ornaments were made in 1994 to celebrate The Lion King. Some early Disney pieces were also made as early as 1977 in glass or satin balls. Pocahontas followed in 1995 with ornaments made for The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996. Then in 1997, Hallmark created over 15 Disney pieces including the beginning of three series.

Many of the first Disney Hallmark pieces had large production runs and can still be found easily today. It took a few years for the popularity of these pieces to catch on but once they did, many of the pieces are popular with collectors and are hard to find. Hallmark Ornaments have hit almost all of the well known kid favorite classic movies such as Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Bambi, 101 Dalmations, and Snow White. They have also included more recent hits such as Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story.

Walt Disney’s beloved Mickey Mouse is also a featured character in most years lines. He has been found shopping with Minnie, kissing Minnie under the mistletoe, and finding the perfect tree with his loyal dog Pluto. The famous Disney princesses are ever popular with little and big girls as well. Many of the ornaments have featured Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, Ariel and Cinderella, as well as Tinker Bell. Shop The Ornament Shop for all you Hallmark Christmas Ornaments.
